Non-Profits: Cedar Falls Community School District & Habitat for Humanity

This project aims to create construction and trades pathways a/k/a “Strands” for Cedar Falls Center for Advanced Professional Studies (CAPS) program for district juniors and seniors. Students will spend the first half of their day participating in traditional core classes at the high school, and the second half of the day is dedicated to the CAPS program.  During the CAPS portion of their day, students will receive both basic construction skills instruction at a host site off-campus and work two days per week on a Habitat for Humanity home.

This project aims to increase industry awareness with interactive, hands-on, open house/career exploration. These interactive events will include a tour of the facilities, an opportunity to try a heavy equipment simulator, see a drone in action and sit in numerous machines to get a taste of what working for an excavating company is all about.

This project focuses on creating industry awareness with high school students made through an alternative education classroom. The design is to bring change to the community and to students who don’t always get the opportunity to interact with industry leaders, all made possible in a fellowship room.

Non Profits:  Home Builders of Greater Siouxland & Sioux City Construction League

This project’s focus is expanding on the Build My Future Events, a hands-on skilled trades event for high school students. Funding this project will allow for the expansion of a larger venue to open attendance to more schools beyond the Sioux City Metro Area.

Strawberry Point, IA
Award: $25,500

Non-Profits: Foundations for the Future of Delaware County & West Delaware County Community School District

This project aims to create a one-of-a-kind, interactive experience that will accommodate in-person, virtual, and hands-on laboratory learning. While introducing a “legacy” class project to showcase learned skills, increase visibility in the school and the community and create a training center constructed by students. Simultaneously, building collaborative partnerships with the community foundation and public schools to develop a replicable platform throughout Iowa and position careers in construction as a first choice and not the last option.
