Most of our government affairs agenda consists of lobbying efforts. However, other components consist of coalition efforts, regulatory issues, communications, and our political action committee (i.e. MBI-PAC). MBI is seen by lawmakers and political leaders as one of the premiere business associations in the state. This is made evident not only from MBI's presence at the State Capitol, but also at the county, city, and local levels.

MBI's government affairs program is focused on an agenda that is pro-business and pro-construction. We develop our agenda from the ground up with our Board of Directors ultimately deciding which way to go on an issue. Our efforts advocate the prudent use of taxpayers' dollars in the procurement of public projects, as well as maintaining the integrity of the construction industry as a vital role in commerce. MBI's lobbying team is led by Ben Hammes in partnership with Chad Kleppe, President and CEO of MBI; and Logan Shine and Julie Smith who are MBI’s contract lobbyists. Collectively, the MBI lobbying team has a wealth of knowledge and experience to advocate on behalf of our members and the construction industry.

THE BOTTOM LINE

Every Monday in which the legislature is in session, MBI’s Director of Public Affairs, Ben Hammes will provide members his insights on what is going on at the Capitol, as well as help to keep members informed on business and construction-related issues. Participants can read first-hand what our elected officials are talking about, while also learning how they can help move MBI’s legislative agenda forward.  THE BOTTOM LINE newsletter articles are available below:

THE BOTTOM LINE is a weekly news bulletin during the Legislative Session designed to give the membership a report on legislative activities and alerts the membership when grass roots efforts are needed. The Bottom Line is distributed in our weekly newsletter. If you would like to sign up to receive our weekly newsletter, please contact Nichole Fry at NFry@MBI.Build
